Rare earth market update on November 28, 2025
This week, the domestic rare earth market remained lukewarm overall. Under the mutual influence of bullish and bearish factors, light and heavy rare earth suppliers showed divergent sentiments, with low trading activity in the market and limited new orders. In the light rare earth market, prices generally showed a pattern of initial decline followed by recovery: at the beginning of the week, praseodymium-neodymium prices were at relatively high levels but downstream demand showed no improvement, leading to price pullback; towards the weekend, affected by expectations that overseas rare earth supply tightness may further intensify, suppliers tentatively raised quotations. In the heavy rare earth market, the overall situation was "prices exist but no market", with low downstream inquiry and procurement enthusiasm and relatively ample spot supply in the market, making it difficult for product prices to rise; under this background, some suppliers chose to adopt a strategy of trading volume for price to increase shipments.
According to CTIA GROUP LTD, this week praseodymium-neodymium oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 1,000/ton, up 0.18%; praseodymium-neodymium metal prices increased by approximately RMB 5,000/ton, up 0.74%; terbium oxide prices decreased by approximately RMB 50,000/ton, down 0.76%; dysprosium oxide prices decreased by approximately RMB 40,000/ton, down 2.61%; 55N neodymium-iron-boron blank prices increased by approximately RMB 2/kg, up 0.76%; neodymium-iron-boron scrap (praseodymium-neodymium) prices remained flat compared to last week. From this, it can be seen that the price fluctuation range of praseodymium, neodymium, dysprosium, and terbium series products was relatively small this week.
On the news front, data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that from January to October, the mining industry achieved a total profit of RMB 712.33 billion, decreased by 27.8% year-on-year; the manufacturing industry achieved a total profit of RMB 4,505.03 billion, increased by 7.7%; and the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry achieved a total profit of RMB 732.93 billion, increased by 9.5%.
